Why do stainless steel handles make a difference? It's so you can clearly get feedback from the pins of the locking mechanism you are trying to pick. In the hands of an expert, this is the preference - however, as a beginner, perhaps you would want to also buy a set with some kind of handle so you have a greater variety of picks to try.
